Aubin Vanns is a guitarist based in London. He has gained a reputation for his mature and original improvisational style as well as his melodic compositional style. He leads his own quartet, with pianist Alberto Palau, bassist Will Harris and drummer Jay Davis, playing original music. He also currently plays original music in the groups They Will Flock and Lanterns.

In 2019, Aubin released his debut album as leader with Opera. In 2018, Aubin featured on recordings by Matt Anderson (Rambling), Jana Vargova and Tom Neale.

Aubin led his own trio from 2016-2018, which performed at Manchester Jazz Festival, Sela Bar, Leeds and Green Note, London amongst other venues.

He co-led the jazz/folk duo, Blue Ejder, who performed original music inspired by modern jazz and Scandinavian folk music. This group performed across the UK and Sweden at venues including Manchester Jazz Festival and the Lescar. They performed with musicians including Pete Turner, Peter Janson and esteemed actress Christina Schollin. They recorded their debut album, “Songs to Poems by Karin Boye” in 2014, featuring trumpeter Neil Yates.

After moving to Sweden in 2013, Aubin played in Swedish folk group, Mareld, with a repertoire consisting of Swedish folk tunes and visa. He appeared on their fifth album, “And So It Goes…” which received positive reviews.

Aubin is currently studying for a masters in jazz at the Royal Academy of Music, London and is supported by Help Musicians UK.
